As part of the April 2nd, 2025, Nintendo Direct focused on the Switch 2, Nintendo announced a laundry list of what it is calling “Switch 2 Enhanced Games.” As the title would suggest, these are Switch 1 games with special enhancements for the Switch 2. While you would obviously expect better performance and visual updates, it was very surprising to see that Metroid Prime 4: Beyond would not only receive mouse support for aiming, but also HDR and a choice between 4K output at 60 fps or 1080p output at 120 fps. Look at Nintendo sounding like a proper next-gen console.

The enhancements vary on a per-game basis, as one would expect, so we won’t detail every change that each game contains. Instead, we’ll be listing out every title announced to have a Switch 2 enhanced edition and give a quick summary of what to expect. It should be noted that all of these games will be available as digital upgrades for owners of the Switch 1 versions or as a separate physical release, likely priced higher to accommodate the upgrades.

Here are all of the games announced during the April 2025 Direct to have Nintendo Switch 2 Enhanced editions:

  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
    • Will include 4K, HDR, and 60 fps
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
    • Will include 4K, HDR, and 60 fps
  • Kirby and the Forgotten Land + Star-Crossed World
    • Features a new expansion and 4K/60 fps mode
  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
    • Will include HDR and 4K/60 or 1080p/120 modes
  • Pokémon Legends: Z-A
    • Will include HDR and 60 fps
  • Tamagotchi Plaza
  • Civilization VII
    • Will include mouse support
  • Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV
    • Will include additional mini-games and mouse-supported ones

Alongside the “Switch 2 Enhanced” ports, Nintendo revealed a list of Switch 1 games on its website that would receive general performance updates at some point. There isn’t a mention of whether or not they will have increased resolution or go beyond the game’s original framerates, but the following games should run better on the Switch 2.

  • ARMS
  • Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
  • Super Mario Odyssey
  • Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
  • Clubhouse Games: 51 World Classics
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening
  • The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
  • Game Builder Garage
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe
  • Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
  • Big Brain Academy: Brain Vs. Brain
