Nintendo has announced that the upcoming live-action Legend of Zelda movie will be hitting theaters in just a few years. On March 26th, 2027, fans and youngsters alike will be able to experience a new take on Hyrule as Link, Zelda, and probably Ganondorf take to the silver screen for the first time.
The announcement came as the first update to Nintendo Today, the recently released news app from The Big N that promises to have daily updates regarding all things Nintendo. Despite everyone believing the biggest news from Nintendo this month would be related to Switch 2, it seems that the company has bigger plans than anyone could have anticipated.
The only other tidbits we have for the movie come from a Variety article about the project. Wes Ball, director of “The Maze Runner” and “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” is still attached and will be helming the project as well as producing it. He, along with Joe Hartwick Jr., will produce it under the Oddball Entertainment banner. As we learned last year, the film will be co-financed by Sony, making this a weird case where the two companies work together.
