For the longest time, video game movies tended to fall flat among the general audience. Those well-versed in gaming would often find them cheesy, yet they were too niche to be a big success with those who weren’t. In recent years, however, that sentiment has changed, particularly when The Super Mario Bros. Movie took the world by storm in 2023 and became the highest-grossing video game movie of all time. Even to this day, it is still receiving new life, with a brand-new steelbook edition now available for pre-order.
The steelbook features an exterior decorated like the iconic question mark block, with a Mushroom Kingdom scene spanning the entirety of the inside. Included are both a 4K UHD and Blu-ray copy, as well as a digital copy in the form of a download code. This edition is available as a Walmart exclusive, with pre-orders available right now for $34.87. The release date is set for March 4th, so keep an eye out when the time comes and make sure to pick this up before it’s too late.
With the sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie on the horizon for next year, it couldn’t be a better time to revisit the original to help build anticipation. In a way, one could call this the ultimate release of the film. Between the high-quality steelbook and the three separate editions included, there’s something here for everyone.
