Originally published by Sega, Bayonetta is a dynamic action game centered around the pompous Umbra Witch of the same name. Nintendo would end up picking up the cancelled sequel and releasing Bayonetta 2 as a Wii U exclusive. From there, the series would become an integral member of the vast Nintendo umbrella, with the full trilogy as well as a spinoff available on Switch. The question on the minds of fans now is: what comes next? It’s very possible that 2025 may bring the answer, as PlatinumGames has teased a special celebration for the year to come.

As seen in an article shared on the PlatinumGames website, January of 2025 marks the 15 year anniversary of Bayonetta’s worldwide release back during the Sega era. In honor of this, a special “Bayonetta 15th Anniversary Year” is in the works, with promise of various announcements throughout the year. While there’s no news to share quite yet beyond this, a 15th anniversary Bayonetta music box announced back in November is still available for pre-order and will likely be shipping out within just a couple months!

If the music box isn’t your speed, be sure to keep an eye out for what PlatinumGames has planned for the coming year. It’s impossible to know what it could be right now beyond speculation, but between merchandise and maybe even a new entry in the series, there’s plenty to look forward to. Hopefully if a new game is announced it will take less than five years to come out this time, though we know either way that it’ll be well worth the wait.
