Video game toys have really exploded in popularity over the past few years. Heck, Target even has an entire aisle of Nintendo, Roblox, and Minecraft toys in my hometown. But one of the things I’ve noticed is that most of these toys fall into one of two categories: popular Nintendo and Sega characters, and a WHOLE lot of Minecraft/Roblox merch. But what about the games that aren’t quite that popular? Don’t they deserve a little love in the cheap toy aisle? Well, for fans of not-so-AAA Sega titles, strap in! Sega and Jakks have announced three new figures coming exclusively to Wal-Mart stores soon!
Three figures have been announced so far, and each one is a real blast from Sega’s past! Axel Stone from Streets of Rage, complete with that oh-so-beautiful 80’s haircut, the Werewolf from Altered Beast, and AiAi from the Super Monkey Ball franchise. Each figure also comes with an accessory as well. Axel’s packing a mean-looking Grand Uppercut effect piece, The Werewolf is channeling his inner beast with his Spirit Ball, and AiAi, well, AiAi has a banana. (Because, of course, he does.) But he also comes with a Monkey Ball too, so there’s that.
No word quite yet on pricing, but according to Sega, they should arrive at Walmart stores over the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
