Less than a year has passed since the Super Mario Bros. Movie dominated at worldwide box offices wordwide, and the teams at Nintendo and Illumination are wasting no time on the next installment! Today, Shigeru Miyamoto and Illumination’s Chris Meledandri officially confirmed that the sequel to the Mario Bros. Movie is in early development and is set to hit theaters on April 3rd, 2026.
What will the Super Mario Bros Sequel be about?
Not a whole lot is known about the new film, but Miyamoto did drop a few hints. During his short video presentation, he said:
“This time, we’re thinking about broadening Mario’s world further, and it’ll have a bright an fun story. We hope you’ll look forward to it!”
Hopefully, we will get even more details on what to expect from the film in the coming months! Stay tuned!
Who will be the cast in the Super Mario Bros. Movie 2?
No cast has been announced just yet, but it’s safe to assume that Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, and Anya Taylor-Joy should reprise their roles. Heck, here’s hoping that Charles Martinet makes another appearance as well!
