Good news for the workers of Sega of America – the developers of the company have officially unionized as the Allied Employees Guild Improving Sega (AEGIS), the Local 9510 of the Communication Workers of America. The union election was won 91-26, and the 200+ member union is now the biggest cross-department one in the entire gaming industry.

Now that AEGIS-CWA has officially unionized, they’ll head to the bargaining table with Sega to negotiate a contract. Previously, the union outlined what it wishes to attain (higher base pay, stable benefits, better opportunities for advancement, balanced schedules, and improved staffing across the board): it will enter into collective bargaining with the employer to try and obtain these boons. We wish them all the luck in negotiation, and hope this is another step in making the industry a better place to work.
