E3’s death was a bit like one of The Hobbit movies: long, drawn out, and more of a whimper than a bang like it deserved. And in a similar way, we’re wondering when exactly it’ll end – after 2023’s show was canceled in a flurry of uncertainty, it looks like the 2024 and 2025 shows may be done and over with too, according to the Los Angeles City Tourism Board of Commissioners, which casually mentioned their cancellation in a business meeting slide:

The ESA responded to the widespread reporting on the matter, stating that the fate of the 2024 show “(and beyond)” is an ongoing conversation and no final decision has been made, hoping that E3 can remain part of ESA’s “storytelling” (since when was the gaming industry equivalent to pro wrestling?).
We’ll provide any firm confirmations or denials of the next years’ conferences whenever they’re finalized.
