The Shin Megami Tensei series has had plenty of spin-offs over the years, ranging from the highly successful Persona to quirky experiments like the Virtual Boy’s Jack Bros. Amongst these was Soul Hackers for the Sega Saturn, which itself was the second game in the Devil Summoner spin-off series. Besides a Japan-only PS1 port and a 3DS remake, the series has remained at one entry, until now… Potentially.

Atlus has begun teasing on the official soul-hackers.jp website with a countdown and an “Information Collection Sequence” live stream that encouraged fans to send in tweets. During the show, brief stills that appear to show a game were revealed. Thanks go to Gematsu for the screengrabs.

More information is promised tomorrow, Friday the 18th, and over the coming week, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
