Ever since it was released, Celeste has been something special. The platforming game has made waves on multiple systems, but for its 3rd anniversary, it’s heading back to its humblest of roots.
Celeste, in its earliest form, was developed for the Pico-8 game engine by Noel Berry and Maddy Thorson. This is where the Celeste Classic “minigame” inside Celeste came from, maintaining the tight precision and quick pace of the full game we know and love. As January 25th marks the anniversary of the original release, Thorson had something special to share:
To celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Celeste, we made a sequel to Celeste Classic for PICO-8 😀 you can play Celeste Classic 2 now on web or pico-8! https://t.co/EHp7dTgGlE

Behold, Celeste Classic 2! Playable on your PC, it offers up more levels in the same style as Celeste Classic. Subtitled Lani’s Trek, it brings together the original Celeste team once again for another taste of mountain climbing.
