There was a time, years ago, when I was proud of the walking stickman animation I made in Flipnote Studio 3D. Once again, the internet has since brought me to great shame.

Users of the Nintendo 3DS software have made some very impressive projects over the years, but I don’t think anything quite tops the latest effort from YouTube user Mirror Panel-3. The Flipnote animator has spent four years producing an original, 34-minute anime feature called Flipnote Warrior, and the result is unbelievable.

The full-length feature will release on December 3rd, 2020, but for now, Mirror Panel-3 has released a three-minute tease of the project, featuring the opening cinematic.

The creator also teased a battle scene from Flipnote Warrior last year:

There’s a bit of a wait ahead for the final release, but in the meantime, Mirror Panel-3 also produced an amazing Mario-themed Flipnote movie that clocks in at an hour in length.

If someone presented Flipnote Warrior to me without any information, I would never have imagined it was even possible to create something like this with a stylus and a 3DS touchscreen. All of the animation was created in Flipnote Studio 3D, with colors later added via PC software. I can’t wait to see more in a few months’ time!
