The theme for the image is based on an annual music event broadcast in Japan, the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen. This special stage presentation divides popular singers into red and white teams and has them face off in a song battle. It’s its own kind of New Year’s tradition, though they’ve never had a star of the show like Kirby take the stage.
