Over the weekend, Britain’s long-running televised celebrity dance contest Strictly Come Dancing themed itself around the Movies, and one of the numbers performed was none other than the original Pokémon anime theme.

Performed as a Paso Doble by Paralympian Will Bayley and his dance partner Janette Manrara, dressed as Ash and Pikachu respectively. The Spanish dance typically has the male dancer perform akin to a bull matador, and the partner their cape, which is somewhat fitting to the Pokémon theme.

You can watch the performance below:

The dance didn’t perform too well with the judges, however, netting a few fives and sixes out of ten. The official UK Pokémon Twitter account at least joined in on the fun.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
