Pokémon Trainers, get ready, because the long-awaited Water Festival is making a grand return!

That’s right, Niantic is bringing back the annual Water Festival this summer, which unsurprisingly celebrates all Pokémon of the Water-type. From wild Pokémon to Egg hatches and Field Research encounters, you’re going to see a massive influx of Water-types in the coming week.

Running from August 23rd, 1:00 p.m. PST to August 30th, 1:00 p.m. PST, you’ll start to see several specialized changes within the game. For one, and perhaps the most obvious, Water-type Pokémon will be making a much bigger appearance, even in areas where there aren’t any bodies of water around. You’ll see a huge increase of tons of Water-types in the wild, and for those of you who are around bodies of water, you’ll experience an increased spawn rate of Wartortle, Poliwhirl, Seaking, Lapras, Qwilfish, Mantine, Lotad, Feebas, Piplup, Buizel, and Finneon. Additionally, you’ll also see Water-types hatch from Eggs more frequently.

For the Water-type battlers out there, Kingler and Crawdaunt will both be able to learn the exclusive move Crabhammer, which is a Charged Attack that’s being introduced to the game with the event!

Raid Battles will feature more Water-type Pokémon as well, with Pokémon like Blastoise, Lapras, and Vaporeon making appearances. And, speaking of Raids, the Lake Trio from the Sinnoh Region – Mesprit, Uxie, and Azelf – will appear in five-star Raids on August 28th from 6:00 PM to 7:00 p.m. local time in their respective regions! If you missed them the first time, this might be the perfect chance to grab them now!

Lastly, you’ll find an increase in Hatch Candy, with Candy rates being doubled from Eggs. If your Buddy Pokémon is a Water-type Pokémon, you’ll also find that the distance required for Buddy Candy will be halved.

Oh, and maybe the most important thing… if you’re lucky, you might find yourself a Shiny Barboach or Shiny Carvanha while you’re out fishing.

Good luck, and enjoy the festivities!
