Near and dear to my heart, Smeargle has been missing from Pokémon GO. The Ditto of the Johto region, Smeargle’s debut into the game had to be special. On top of that, incorporating the Pokémon’s iconic move, Sketch, had to be executed perfectly.
New camera features have been slowly added to Pokémon GO this month. Among the updates, a new startup screen was discovered and it featured Smeargle. Where can you catch one though? Will this Pokémon be tied to research tasks or Raid Battles? Not this time around! Niantic is letting Smeargle run wild in everyone’s art studio, photoshoots included.
Starting now, there’s a chance you may have an intruder during your photo session in-game. Smeargle can appear and “photobomb” shots you take. After encountering this cute interaction, a Smeargle will spawn nearby. Then it’s back to the regular old method of throwing Poké Balls and berries to catch the ‘mon.
Smeargle is now photobombing GO Snapshot photos! If one appears in your photo, it will spawn on the map near you. Smeargle appears to generally adopt the moveset of the species you are photographing. Also note a new “Cameraman” Badge is now live! pic.twitter.com/MvM11q8m6p

Currently, The Silph Road is reporting that Smeargle’s moveset is influenced by the species of the Pokémon you were photographing.
Good luck in finding Smeargle while you snap away!
