Detective Pikachu isn’t the only movie releasing next year that’s putting beloved ’90s video game characters into the real world – Sonic the Hedgehog is getting the same treatment. But where Detective Pikachu mostly went down well with fans, this new look for the blue blur might be a bit more divisive…
It looks like the plan is to give Sonic a more realistic physique for someone who runs so much, which means he’s rather muscular compared to the spindly limbs he has in the games. Even his shoes have gotten a more realistic make-over.
Sonic the Hedgehog’s movie lands on November 8th, 2019.
