The 2017 Fiscal Year Earnings report has finally been uploaded by Nintendo and while we’re still combing over the details, one part in particular takes precedent. At the end of June, the company will have a new Representative Director and President, and his name is Shuntaro Furukawa.
Tatsumi Kimishima, who took over after Satoru Iwata passed away in 2015, will be retiring from the role on June 28th and be replaced by the 46-year-old Furukawa. He has been with the company since 1994 and has stood as the Outside Director of The Pokémon Company since 2012. Serkan Toto also reports that he speaks English well.
You can check out the full list of changes to Nintendo’s directorial staff on the official document. If you wondering where Kimishima is going, don’t worry as he’ll still stand as a corporate adviser.
From all of us here at Nintendo Wire, good luck in the new position, Shuntaro Furukawa!
