By far the most substantial expansion to the remade Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga package is the “+ Bowser’s Minions” addition. Offering a whole new quest mode called Minion Quest: The Search for Bowser, the game shows how Bowser’s underlings ventured out to save their leader from the clutches of the fury-having Fawful. This is all carried out in the style of real-time battles against Bean Bean baddies and other enemies, all taking place in the background while the Mario Bros.’ own quest is unfolding.

While I miss the sprites from the GBA original, this new mode looks to be a great way to get some fresh perspective on the Mario RPG. You’ll be able to judge it for yourself when the game, along with the Goomba and Koopa Troopa amiibo, release this Friday.
