Several months ago, Niantic removed the ability to gauge how far away nearby Pokémon were from Pokémon GO, due to bugs in the feature. It then started testing a new Nearby feature in San Francisco, California, a way in which people could view which Pokéstop that the nearby Pokémon was closest to. After a barrage of requests from fans over the following months, Niantic has started rolling out the feature to a much wider area of the United States, and has also included areas of other countries as well. The new Nearby feature is now available in all states west of the Mississippi River, most of Canada, and all of Australia.
The new feature should be immediately available to all players in those areas. It arrives alongside the introduction of Ditto in the wild.
