Capcom has teamed up with JR East Japan Planning (yes, the railway company) to create a new type of gaming experience for the 3DS. Players tap their IC cards (train fare card) on 3DS’ NFC readers to communicate with in-game characters and unlock special items based on the players’ train riding histories and patterns.
At launch, the game will support ten different types of IC cards: Kitaca , Pasmo, Suica, Toica, Manaca, Icoca, PiTaPa, Sugoca, Hayakaken and Nimoca. It will include over 9,000 train stations from across Japan. No additional information has been released at the moment, but stay tuned to Nintendo Wire for more details as they become available.
