Earlier this year, the 2DS was brought to Japan for the first time in the form of four special edition 2DS consoles. These special editions focused on the four original games in the first generation of Pokémon, and were released to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the series.
Today, it was announced that Nintendo is ceasing production of these special edition 2DS consoles, and effectively ceasing production of all Japanese 2DS consoles as a result.
