The roll-out of SNES games on the New 3DS Virtual Console has been somewhat staggered so far, but Japanese gamers were surprised earlier today by a deluge of classic 16-bit hits. These included Mega Man 7, Mega Man X, Contra III: The Alien Wars, Super Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country 3.
That’s not all – Nintendo has also confirmed four other Super Famicom games will be arriving in the region throughout June: Kirby’s Dream Course, Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem, The Legend of the Mystical Ninja and Super Street Fighter II: The New Challenger.
Japanese gamers can also pick up new pre-paid eShop cards themed on the classic colors of the Super Famicom. Each card will be exclusive to different stores; the one on the left can be found in 7-Eleven, while the one on the right is exclusive to Lawson. Check them out:
There’s no word yet on when, or if, these titles will be heading west. We can probably count out the appearance of the Japan-only Fire Emblem game, but the others are well within reason. We’ll be sure to let you know if they crop up!
