UPDATE (4/29): A Super Meat Boy trailer is here. We get to see our favorite bloody hero in action on the Wii U– finally! The title will be hitting the European Wii U eShop on May 12th. There’s no official word yet on a U.S. release, but there’s a good chance we’ll see it pop up here on the same day, or around that general time. We’ll keep you posted with the latest news, so stay tuned!
When the indie classic Super Meat Boy was released on the PlayStation 4 for the PlayStation Plus program back in October, the team behind the game made a post on its blog that, at the end, stated “To the fans we’re still excluding I’ll leave you with this: Wii haven’t forgotten about U.”
While this was an obvious hint that the team was attempting to bring the game over to the Wii U after the failed attempts at a WiiWare port, the topic wasn’t touched upon again for months and no official confirmation about the port was given.
The European Nintendo Direct from just a couple days ago finally gave us proof that the game is making its way to the Wii U, however no information about a release date or timeframe was provided. Excitingly enough, though, co-creator of the game Tommy Refenes, through his official Twitter account, has announced that Wii U port can be expected “very very very soon”, and will be available in just a couple months!
Super Meat Boy is coming to WiiU very very very soon. @BlitWorks is wrapping it up and you should be playing it in a couple months! Hooray!

We can’t help but wonder what role the Wii U’s GamePad might play in the port, but in any case it’s exciting to see the game finally coming to a Nintendo platform!
