Super Mario Maker’s Mystery Mushroom costume selection is already more than a little bizarre, with the likes of Mario driving a Mercedez Benz to a playable pigeon to choose from. The latest costume announcement may take the cake though, as it’s based on Japanese metal idol band Babymetal. Take a look at the trio in action:
Babymetal was formed back in 2010 as a sub-group of the idol band Sakura Gakuin, but they soon became stars in their own right, even gaining popularity overseas. Just as recently as 2014 they played as the opening act to several Lady Gaga concerts, for example.
Considering every other Mystery Mushroom costume has made its way west, regardless of obscurity, it’s probably a safe bet to say we’ll see Babymetal jumping around the Mushroom Kingdom soon.
