Shigeru Miyamoto has always shown himself to be a humble and appreciative man, and that still rings true through the “Thank You” video just posted to Pokémon’s official YouTube channel, which you can also view below.

In this short clip, Miyamoto makes sure to thank his fans and supporters for all that they’ve done for the franchise, and it talks about how crazy it is that it’s already been 20 years since Pokémon has first came out. He also, of course, congratulates the series itself for making it so far.

Miyamoto mentored Satoshi Tajiri when he was creating Pokémon. It’s sweet to watch the brilliant man behind some of our favorite games still so passionate about the franchise, and excited about the advancements and strides that it’s made.

Happy 20th anniversary, Pokémon!
