It has been a very long time since we saw anything substantial from the next console game in the Zelda franchise, with the last fully-fledged appearance being at the Game Awards 2014. If new rumors are to be believed, however, we could be seeing some huge news in the near future.
The speculation comes from Emily Rogers, who has investigated and revealed various Nintendo projects in the past, such as Paper Mario Color Splash. In a series of tweets she reveals that several reliable sources have given her interesting info regarding the upcoming Zelda game:
Heard some rumors about Zelda today. From very reliable sources. I must investigate further. pic.twitter.com/tIxd6mOmPb

No, it's nothing bad. If anything, the new Zelda sounds like it could be pretty darn cool. I guess we'll see. https://t.co/pmuTCFcmSt

To add some credibility, an entirely different Twitter user, Neal Ronaghan, has said the same thing:
This week in Nintendo leaks/rumors: Expect to hear some stuff about Zelda Wii U soon. Heard a lot of similar stuff from multiple sources.

Now here are the rumors, which both users stand by:
Rumor #1: Yes, Zelda is coming to both Wii U and NX. I confirmed it with a ton of people. You can choose which one to get. Or get both.

Rumor #2: I heard from multiple sources that you can choose between a male or female as your playable character in Zelda.

Rumor #3: There is voice acting for most of the characters…except Link.

It’s all very interesting, but again these are rumors and should be treated as such. Regardless, Neal Ronaghan states in another tweet that we won’t be seeing official word out of Nintendo until a “Zelda blowout at E3”, meaning we have a two month wait to find out.
We’ll be sure to let you know how these rumors stack up as soon as we get official Zelda details from Nintendo!
