UPDATE: GameXplain recently posted its own video highlighting the wireless trading and multiplayer battle system for Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow on the 3DS. To get a closer look at these features, check out the video below!
A video from the Nintendo World Report TV Youtube channel gave some additional insight on the upcoming re-release of Pokémon Yellow.
The video showcases a small portion of gym leader Brock’s hometown, Pewter City, while also giving us a small glimpse of the iconic Viridian Forest. The footage also showed off the Virtual Console menu, which can be accessed by tapping on the touch screen. As expected, the game looks great running on the 3DS Virtual Console and appears exactly how fans remember it over 15 years ago.
For a brief moment, it appeared that the new wireless trading and battling capabilities would be shown off during the video, but unfortunately, they weren’t. The new wireless trading and battling features will allow trainers to trade and battle using a wireless connection in light of the link cable.
Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow are set for a re-release on February 27th, and each game can be purchased for $9.99 in the Nintendo eShop. For the ultimate nostalgia trip, Pokémon fanatics can purchase the upcoming Pokémon Red and Blue themed New 3DS for $199.99, which also has a release date of February 27th.
