Fred Seibert of Frederator Studios recently sat down with with the Nick Animation Podcast to discuss his history in the animation industry and current projects. Near the end of the episode, Fred announced that his team has been sitting on a project featuring a very popular video game in recent history.

“We have a project now that we’re doing that needs to go unnamed based on one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years, that we’ve had in our shop for 12 years without being able to get it started. But there were great characters and a great story, and eventually we got it going.

Frederator is behind some of the best animated series over the past ten years, including Adventure Time, Bravest Warriors and The Fairly OddParents. Whatever this mystery project is, with Frederator’s track record, it’s bound to be good. While there was no mention of a Nintendo IP, it’s worth noting that few other companies have characters that fit the description above that don’t already have a series.

What do you think it could be? Let us know in the comments below.
