It looks like Pokémon as a franchise is still going strong, with latest entries Sun & Moon becoming the Nintendo’s biggest ever launch in the UK following their release last Wednesday.

While sales monitor GFK Chart-Track does not publicly state sales figures they do reveal that the games broke Nintendo’s previous record, and if sales of both games are combined they take the top spot overall for the week, besting juggernauts Fifa 17 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

This means the games had a better launch than previous record holder Wii Fit, which is saying something considering how that game captured the attention of a very wide audience back when Wii fever was at its height. It just goes to show that Nintendo and the Pokémon Company’s year-long advertising campaign for Sun & Moon has paid off, though we’ll have to see how the other markets react as more sales figures come in.
