Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct saw the announcement of another batch of Animal Crossing amiibo cards, to tie in with the New Leaf update that will be happening later this year. It looks like Nintendo of Japan will be using the opportunity to get in some sponsored cross-overs too, as a selection of Sanrio amiibo cards will be sold in the region.

While the cards sadly won’t let Sanrio characters move into your town (one day I’ll be your BFF, Tuxedo Sam), they’ll unlock some special furniture. Nintendo already experimented with this sort of collaboration with Happy Home Designer’s free DLC, which featured everything from Monster Hunter to 7-Eleven items in Japan, so it’s not too surprising to see the trend continue.

The cards will be sold on November 3rd in packs that contain two random amiibo cards and one seal. Hello Kitty, Little Twin Stars, Keroppi, My Melody, Pompompurin and Cinnamoroll will be among those featured.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
