Pokémon freebies have always appeared in many different forms — trading cards, special Pokémon that you can train and battle with, figurines, toys, activity books, etc. Smart devices and digital-only goodies can also be thrown into the mix. What if the Pokémon Company mashes these two forms together though?
Chris (@Tsukento on Twitter) spotted these new display signs advertising an app called Pokémon Pass. One sign advertises the ability to get a Shiny Eevee and/or Shiny Pikachu for Pokémon: Let’s Go!, whereas the other advertises Pokémon: Detective Pikachu and the opportunity to download a Psyduck sticker. For both of the promotions, all you need to do is to scan the QR code present on the signs.
I guess I should add the QR code. Still no idea what that app is. pic.twitter.com/7Vv0FV6xTC

The QR Code does work, but the bit.ly link is “broken.” Wherever the link is supposed to lead, such as an app download page, is not currently active.
As for why May 11th is specified on the Pokémon: Detective Pikachu sign, it may be due to Target hosting their Detective Pikachu TCG promo card giveaway that very same day — as Psyduck is also the star of the promo card.
Will we see similar signs and promotions at GameStop and/or Walmart during their events? Will this new app be the keeper of Pokémon goodies and expand to other games, like Pokémon Sword & Shield? That remains a mystery that will hopefully be solved next month!
