We’re right on the cusp of the next wave of video game movie adaptations, with some inspiring hope more than others. Detective Pikachu will debut in just a few months, while Sonic the Hedgehog will similarly mesh live action and CGI together in November. On top of that we also have Angry Birds (again) and Dynasty Warriors on the way. And now, it’s only going to continue in to 2020, as the Monster Hunter movie is slated for September 4th, 2020, according to Deadline. Here’s the full summary:
Behind our world, there is another — a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, terrifying attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man (Tony Jaa) who has found a way to fight back.
Tip “T.I.” Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta, Josh Helman, Jin Au-Yeung and Ron Perlman co-star in Monster Hunter, and Anderson also produces alongside Robert Kulzer, Martin Moszkowicz, Jeremy Bolt and Dennis Berard.
The Monster Hunter movie was officially confirmed back in October, though it had been rumored for years. Paul W.S. Anderson (writer, director, co-producer) and Milla Jovovich both return after working on the Resident Evil series of films.
