Nintendo’s bringing even more handheld goodness to the scene with two brand new 2DS color schemes. Replacing the once dominantly black systems are handhelds with primarily bright palettes. Gone are the days with the 2DS lacking color: blue and red now don the 2DS on both the front and the back with black simply dressing the sides.

Nintendo is referring to this design update as a “color swap.”

This new color swap will be remembered alongside other such innovations as jelly and peanut butter, or roll and rock. Even Mario approved and decided that the new look will start replacing the old one, so everyone should see the color-swapped Nintendo 2DS systems appear in stores this November.

Each 2DS comes packaged with Mario Kart 7 pre-installed and will retail for the same price the current system goes for, $79.99. And just as Nintendo stated, the new colors will be available sometime this November.

Of course, no handheld update would be complete without a hilarious skit when it comes to Nintendo! Our favorite company has put together an endearing video illustrating exactly how this color swap came to be. It looks like we have Luigi to thank for this swap– see why below!
