The remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is finally here and, as with most new Nintendo releases, it’s bringing with it some included amiibo functionality. The Legend of Zelda series isn’t a stranger to amiibo, with 33 figures already released and two more on the way. Most Zelda titles released since the introduction of Nintendo’s toys-to-life figures have offered some sort of benefit to scanning the figures – things like harder game modes, customization options for Link, and helpful items have all been amiibo rewards in the past. What about Ocarina of Time though? Read on, as this guide will go over what players have to look forward to when tapping an amiibo into The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, as well as which amiibo can be used, and how to unlock amiibo functionality in the first place.
How do I unlock amiibo functionality in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time?
You won’t be able to use amiibo right away in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time; instead, you’ll have to progress just a bit through the game first. Start up your adventure in Kokiri Forest, acquire the Kokiri Sword and Deku Shield, and make your way through the Great Deku Tree Dungeon. Then you’ll make your way out of Kokiri Forest, receiving the Fairy Ocarina from Saria along the way, and arrive in Hyrule Field. Once you’re in Hyrule Field, you can pull up your System Menu and enable amiibo support.
What amiibo work with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time?
Any and all current Legend of Zelda series amiibo, as well as Super Smash Bros. series amiibo that are characters from the Legend of Zelda series, will be able to be scanned in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. That’s 33 amiibo total:
- Link (Super Smash Bros.)
- Toon Link (Super Smash Bros.)
- Young Link (Super Smash Bros.)
- Zelda (Super Smash Bros.)
- Sheik (Super Smash Bros.)
- Ganondorf (Super Smash Bros.)

- Link – Ocarina of Time
- Toon Link – Wind Waker
- Toon Zelda – Wind Waker

- Link – Majora’s Mask
- Link – Twilight Princess
- Link – Skyward Sword
- Mipha

There are also two new Legend of Zelda series amiibo on the horizon, releasing in 2027. These two amiibo will also work with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, since they are releasing for this game specifically:
- Young Link – Ocarina of Time
- Young Zelda – Ocarina of Time
Scanning any non-Legend of Zelda character’s amiibo will display a message stating that the figure is unsupported.
What does each amiibo unlock in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time?
All 33 previously released amiibo that work with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time do the same thing when scanned: gift the player with random items that they’ve already discovered on their quest. If you find yourself running low on things like bombs, arrows, or Deku Seeds, scanning any of these amiibo will give you a chance to stock up.

As for the two upcoming amiibo for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, scanning them will grant Link a mask based on the character scanned. We’re not sure what these masks do in game yet, so keep an eye out for their functionality once they release next year.
