Developer Shift Up recently released a demo for Stellar Blade on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop, and feedback from it was rather mixed. While the game makes understandable visual cutbacks to get running on Nintendo’s hybrid device, the implementation of frame generation to boost the frame rate to 60 fps results in a very messy, ugly presentation with noticeable input latency. It’s distracting enough to the point where you wish there was a 30 fps cap for the final game. Thankfully, Shift Up has listened and will be implementing that for release.

On Twitter, the company writes, “We’ve been watching your feedback closely and decided to add a Frame Generation toggle at release.” This is only a good thing considering how an action game like Stellar Blade lives and dies on controller response. While you can get used to how it feels in its current state, it’s never particularly intuitive and would be better served by allowing users the option to turn off frame generation and get better response times. Oddly enough, capping it to 30 fps here would see it play better than the Frankensteined solution we have.

Stellar Blade release date

With a little over a month to go until Stellar Blade hits Switch 2 on November 5th, 2026, hearing news like this makes me more optimistic for the final product. I’m not sure what other changes I would like, but Shift Up seems ready to hear fan feedback.

You can pre-order Stellar Blade on Amazon today.
