After teasing it earlier this year, Capcom has announced that Monster Hunter Wilds will be hitting Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4th, 2026. During this morning’s Nintendo Direct, we saw some footage from the Switch 2 version that shows surprisingly stable performance, although incredibly low-resolution visuals. Even still, it looks like a rather impressive port considering the power gap between the Switch 2 and PS5/Xbox Series X|S.
One major plus for the Switch 2 version of Wilds is that it supports local adhoc play. Similar to the 3DS games of old, two players with Switch 2’s and copies of the game can play offline with one another. That’s a huge plus, especially since online services will one day shut down and render the other versions as solo affairs.
Capcom also confirmed in the reveal trailer that Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance will release on the same day for Switch 2 as other platforms. The massive expansion is planned for a 2027 release, though we still don’t have an exact timeframe. Considering Wilds has crossplay, it makes sense to bring the expansion to Switch 2 ASAP.
