Mojang Studios has announced that its popular sandbox survival game Minecraft is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in a couple of months, featuring a number of enhancements over its Switch 1 predecessor.

Minecraft for Nintendo Switch 2 will launch on October 27th, 2026. It will feature a default “Vibrant Visuals” mode, which will bring “enhanced lighting, shadow effects and more” to the upgraded port. The Super Mario Mash-Up pack, exclusive to the Nintendo versions of Minecraft, will also see a visual upgrade.

A digital upgrade path will be available for those who already own Minecraft on the original Nintendo Switch. More details on this will be announced later.

This will be the third Minecraft port on a Nintendo platform, with the game previously launching on the original Nintendo Switch in 2017 and on the Wii U in 2015.
