In a move that I’m pretty sure no one would have expected, it seems as if the 2002 cult hit Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee will be getting a remaster for current-gen platforms. The news comes from billbil-kun, notable leaker who has largely been correct with their predictions in the past. According to them, the remaster is being developed by Pipeworks (developers of the original game), and will be published by Atari.
Set to release on November 3rd, 2026, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2 (a PC version isn’t confirmed yet), the game will run $29.99 on PS5 and Xbox and $39.99 on Switch 2 (damn Switch tax!). Billbil-kun claims the remaster includes a revised unlock system, new campaigns for single-player, remastered visuals, and an online multiplayer mode. That’s certainly a glow up from the offline original, though offline options are still included.
I never owned Destroy All Monsters Melee way back, but have a ton of experience playing it with friends. It was such a novel idea in 2002 that you couldn’t help but love it. 24 years later, we’ve seen plenty of licensed games attempt to repeat the magic of Destroy All Monsters Melee, but even its direct sequel, Godzilla: Save the Earth, couldn’t replicate the magic. Hopefully, this remaster learns from the mistakes of the past to present the definitive digital Godzilla experience.
