A few days ago, gaming peripheral manufacturer Gametech unveiled a rather innovative new Nintendo Switch Joy-Con 2 grip that is sure to be useful for anyone with a disability. While not specifically named in the YouTube video, the one-handed Joy-Con 2 grip is exactly as it says: a one-handed grip for Nintendo’s new controllers. You might think that sounds rather out there, but it’s actually a rather simple device.

The grip simply places both Joy-Con into a shell that is attached by a hinge in the middle. The hinge can lock at different angles to allow for varying positions or hand sizes. Another position even allows mouse mode functionality without the need to remove either controller from the grip. Gametech specifies that it was created to aid people who may be suffering an injury or from reduced mobility, it can also be a preference for some.

This new grip follows from a similar design available on the Switch 1. Gametech had previously created a one-handed Joy-Con grip back in 2018 that fits the original controller design, which it still sells on its site. Sadly, Gametech does not ship to the US, but there are bound to be ways to import this device if you like/need it. The grip only runs ¥2,750, or roughly $18, so it’s not super expensive.
