In an anniversary video published on YouTube today, Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed that Wilds will be getting a large-scale expansion this summer. Said to be similar in scope to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, the expansion will be one of many new updates coming to Wilds this year.
In the video, Tsujimoto says, “We are currently at work on a large-scale expansion similar to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak for Monster Hunter Wilds. We plan to share more information with you this summer, so please look forward to it.” He then went on to explain other updates coming to the game, including an anniversary event that will feature a crossover with the upcoming Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection. The anniversary event will also bring back time-limited rewards and event quests that players may have missed over the last year.
All of this sounds great, but there’s one thing missing: any information about a potential Nintendo Switch 2 port. I’m still convinced that Monster Hunter Wilds will be heading to Nintendo’s latest platform. I don’t know if I believe in the datamining leaks that have come out, which reportedly highlight Switch 2-specific graphical settings, but Capcom would be out of its mind to not attempt a port. Considering the recently released Pragmata demo manages to run at 60 fps with HDR, I think the Switch 2 is capable enough.
