Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan have announced that the original Super Nintendo World theme park in Osaka, Japan will be getting some new additions for its 5th anniversary. Starting on March 18th, 2026, and running until January 11th, 2027, patrons of the park will be treated to massive star-studded cake at the entrance, as well as various new activities to commemorate the park’s first milestone anniversary.

Park goers will be treated to new, special food and merchandise as they peruse the attractions. Once they’ve had their fill, they can stop over at the Meet & Greet area to meet Yoshi, who will be making his in-park debut. The park will also host a new “Star Hunt” activity, which Universal Japan states will include performances by Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and friends. As you could probably guess, visitors will need to search for Super Stars throughout the park, though it’s not clear if you’ll get a prize for finding them.

Details about the exclusive merchandise haven’t been announced yet, though we’re still a few months away from the date. It’s hard to believe that Super Nintendo World has not only existed for five years (it opened in Japan on March 18, 2021), but has two sister locations in Los Angeles, California and Orland, Florida. A Singapore location is set to open at some point in the future, which will expand the parks even further.
