Following the release of “Title Update 4” for the PC version of Monster Hunter Wilds, dataminers have been digging through the newest patch for any information regarding upcoming DLC or events. In their quest to spoil every last bit of surprise, it seems they stumbled upon something else entirely: evidence that Capcom is working on a Switch 2 port for Wilds. While this normally would be speculation, there is some very specific wording in this latest batch of info that makes me believe it could be true. While I’m still going to label this a rumor, it does follow an interview from back in September where Capcom’s president lamented that the PS5’s price was acting as a barrier for players, suggesting Capcom would work on porting this to a cheaper platform.

Spotted on Reddit, there’s a thread where user lily-101178 breaks down findings from a Chinese datamining group. In the first image posted, there is a settings preset made for Switch 2 that runs the game at 30 FPS with DLSS. In the second image posted, there is a string of text which reads, “Bring Nintendo Switch 2 consoles together to create or join a lobby using local wireless communication.” Reportedly, this will support up to four players similar to the older 3DS Monster Hunter games.
In the final image shared, the dataminers did a mock-up of what Monster Hunter Wilds could look like on Switch 2 based on those presets found within the update. Using the PC version with its settings turned down, it turns out that the Switch 2 version would utilize higher shadow quality than PC’s “Very Low” preset. It would also output at 1080p, which is understandable given the power of the system. While I don’t think the image looks particularly good (I have no idea what it’s even highlighting), it does point to this being a potential reality.
With regards to actual content, dataminers have also spotted mention of a “Tempered Gogmazios,” which is a harder version of the regular Gogmazios. Since he was added in title update 4, it really is only a matter of time before that one becomes reality. Maybe it will coincide with the Switch 2 version of the game? At this point, I’m more convinced than ever that Capcom will pull this off.
