In a surprise announcement this evening, developer Team Cherry announced an expansion is heading to Hollow Knight: Silksong next year. Titled “Sea of Sorrow,” the only description we have is that players will “voyage across and beneath the salt-stricken seas.” The best news: it will be free for all players who own Silksong. This is similar to what Team Cherry did for expansions to the original Hollow Knight, which had a number of updates after its initial release in 2018.
Alongside that news, Team Cherry has revealed that an updated version of the original Hollow Knight will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in the future. In a post on its website, the team said, “Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition incorporates all the updates and enhancements that Silksong received on the platform: High frame-rate modes, higher resolutions, and many additional graphical effects.” Much like Silksong, owners of the original Switch version will get the Switch 2 update for free.
As for non-Switch related business, a new update for the PC version of Hollow Knight is now available in a beta branch for Steam and GOG. The update now includes 16:10 and 21:9 support for ultrawide monitors and the Steam Deck. There are more updates than that, and Team Cherry is promising it will come to other platforms next year.
