Because Geoff Keighley loves his WORLD PREMIERES, Capcom’s upcoming Street Fighter film had its debut teaser unveiled as part of The Game Awards tonight. Showcasing a surprisingly faithful rendition of the classic arcade game, most of the cast from the film were on stage to debut the teaser and… I’m kind of at a loss for words. The film is set for an October 16th, 2026, release date, so we’ve still got some time.
The brief teaser didn’t set up any plotline or explain who would be the main villain (it has to be M. Bison, right?), but we get shots of action sequences that look decently staged. It’s too hard to tell how the final reel will be, but considering some of the talent involved, I have surprisingly high expectations.
As for the cast, I’ll save my ranting on some of the problematic actors to highlight the fantastic ones. Rayna Valladingham is a legitimate martial arts prodigy, and she practically stole the show in Cobra Kai’s final season. Callina Liang is also a rising star, having appeared in the Thai heist film Bad Genius as well as making a name for herself on Tiktok. It’s excellent casting to get Hirooki Goto as E. Honda, as well. He’s quite popular in New Japan Pro Wrestling and holds a number of titles to his name.
