In a rather unexpected update, Valve has just updated Steam to include semi-official Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller support in its beta branch. In patch notes released by the company, it states that users can plug in their Switch 2 Pro Controllers via USB and use them via Steam input for practically every game on the platform. Steam Input, essentially, maps whatever controller to Xinput so you can use whatever gamepad you want in whatever game you happen to be playing.

While it’s not too surprising to see Switch 2’s gamepad get supported, what is a little strange is that Steam now supports GameCube controllers via the Wii U USB adapter. Surprisingly, full controller support and rumble are now functional on Steam if you happen to have all the appropriate hardware. I may have to try that out, seeing as how I still have that Wii U adapter lying around.
