If you can believe it, Nintendo has announced that the 3DS will undergo a period of scheduled maintenance this week. No, that’s not some weird typo or even a sign that the eShop is being brought back to life. Nintendo is likely doing some maintenance on its 3DS servers for people to redownload purchased games or browse the internet from their handhelds. I didn’t even know the system still had access to the internet, but it’s nice that Nintendo is working to ensure 3DS faithfuls can still utilize their device of choice.

The company released the times that internet services will be out for the device. They differ per region, but will run about 90 minutes. I’m guessing some of this is to port over servers to new hard drives, which should ensure the ability to redownload games for years to come.
