In a stream last night across social media and YouTube, Sega shared roughly one hour of new footage from Yakuza Kiwami 3, the upcoming remake of the rather divisive Yakuza 3. While it doesn’t reveal too much new about the main game, this is our longest look yet at the new expansion, “Dark Ties.” Following antagonist Yoshitaka Mine through his rise to power, the combat system for this portion looks to introduce some new mechanics that are sure to spice up battles.
True to what RGG Studios has said already, players will select either Kiwami 3 or Dark Ties from the main menu. Both games share some new features, but everything seems to have been built for this side-game rather than the other way around. Mine’s combat system features something akin to Devil May Cry’s “Devil Trigger” in that you can power Mine up to increase the damage he does with basic attacks. Mine has a single fighting style, but powering him up to 1x, 2x, or 3x will alter the moves available to him.
As for general features that Kiwami 3 will have, players can customize the look of Mine and Kiryu with new clothing options. The game will also feature an English dub option if you aren’t keen on listening to the original Japanese voiceover. There are a plethora of additional text language options, too, to accommodate players. It’s a nice upgrade over the original version, which only featured Japanese audio and English text.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 will release on February 12, 2026, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.
