As has been speculated over the past few weeks, Resident Evil Requiem is now confirmed to be releasing on Switch 2 alongside versions on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A new trailer for the game showed an explicit Nintendo Switch 2 version, which, while clearly pared back visually, still looked rather impressive. What else is impressive is that it will be followed by ports of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and Village on the same day, which is February 27th, 2026.
This actually overlaps a bit with our speculation post from yesterday. While it was stated that all six of the RE Engine Resident Evil games would make the jump, having the three newest ones out first makes more sense. Reportedly, Requiem will connect more closely to what happened in 7 and Village, not to mention its gameplay is primarily in first-person. Having a trilogy, of sorts, available on the same day is great news for Nintendo faithful.
Personally, I think it’s great that Capcom is so eager to port its games over to Switch 2 as it opens up the audience quite significantly. It will be interesting to see if future games in the series are more purpose built for Nintendo’s hardware as Requiem does look a bit like a de-make of the current generation versions. Even still, it’s a great get for Nintendo’s hardware.
