Nintendo has announced an in-game online event for Mario Kart World in Japan later this month.

Titled “Online Challenge: Summer Vacation Skill Test,” the event will take place on August 23rd and will be held for two hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

According to Nintendo’s official Japanese website, participants will compete in 150 cc races. Players will be assigned ratings, which will start at 3,000 and fluctuate depending on each match result. Those who earn enough points will be listed among the top 100 players on Nintendo’s website. Nintendo will also list the top 100 rankings for each character, so even if players don’t make the top 100 overall, they might have a chance at the top 100 Cows.

The event utilizes the new “Search for an event” feature, which users can access by pressing the minus button in the online menu. Next, type in “2378” for the event ID to see the rules and participate. Doing this before the event begins will allow you to play a practice match with the same rules as the Online Challenge.

Players outside of Japan can participate, but won’t be ranked. An active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to enter the challenge.

Nintendo also confirmed that more online challenges will be held in the future. There has been no word from Nintendo of America or Nintendo of Europe yet, but hopefully, we’ll see similar events arrive in other regions soon.
