Announced a few months back, this year’s Call of Duty will be Black Ops 7, and Microsoft has confirmed it will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. While it would stand to reason that the game is heading to Nintendo Switch 2, not only has Microsoft not clarified whether a port will even happen, but reliable leaker and Dealabs writer billbil-kun has stated the game will not be heading to Nintendo’s newest platform when it releases later this year.

As reported by Dealabs, Black Ops 7 is supposedly set for a November 14th, 2025, release on other platforms and will not be coming to Switch 2 this year. This doesn’t rule out a port in the future, but it goes against a legal agreement Microsoft made in 2023 during its acquisition of Activision Blizzard that stated it would bring Call of Duty to Nintendo platforms day-and-date with the Xbox version for at least ten years. While none of this information is confirmed, it does point to a similar rumor going around that third-party developers were not given Switch 2 development kits ahead of the console’s launch. If that is the case, it could be Microsoft simply cannot ensure a quality port ahead of November and doesn’t want to rush something to market.

Considering that Black Ops 7 is set to appear on last-generation consoles still, there’s nothing stopping a Switch 2 port from running properly other than time. I would anticipate that Black Ops 7 will come to Nintendo’s console in early 2026, and following that, Call of Duty will be released alongside other versions at the same time. Only time will tell, and with Gamescom right around the corner, we might get an official answer sooner rather than later.
